The National Monument or Monumen Nasional or commonly called Monas is located at the center of Merdeka Square in Central Jakarta. It symbolizes the fight for Indonesia’s independence. On top you will see a flame covered with a 50 kg gold foil. It is open daily  to the public from 8:00 to 3:00 pm everyday except on the last Monday of each month.
After Monas you can go and see the Istiqlal Mosque (Independence Mosque) . It is the largest mosque in Southeast Asia in terms of capacity to accommodate people. You can also see and visit the Merdeka Palace, the official residence of the President. It is a white structure that is so lovely to see.

When you tour Jakarta, you need to wear comfortable shoes and clothing. It can get so hot at times.

Another must see spot is going up to Puncak. This will take a whole day. Better start early as traffic can be very heavy at times. And during weekends and holidays they control the traffic of cars going up and going down. So better go there on a weekday.

On your way up first stop is the Taman Safari. It is a safari park where you can see tigers, elephants, orangutans and other animals in their original habitat. You can take a car inside the park and drive through the animals while they walk around. You can even feed some animals. But watch out for signs that say – DO NOT FEED ANIMALS or DO NOT ROLL DOWN YOUR WINDOWS. Because you don’t want to ruin your vacation with a bitten hand. Better be there on a weekday because traffic while watching these animals can be very slow.
Spend two to three hours on this park .
Zebras will meet and greet you while you passby
On your way up to Puncak, you will see a vast tea plantation. This is a breathtaking view. You will see hectares of tea plants.

Then finally you will see the biggest flower garden in Asia – Taman Bunga Nusantara located in Cipanas. Inside the park are 11 different parks such as the Taman Bali ( Bali Garden), Taman Jepang ( Japanese Garden) and many others.
